Buzz

Here is a VERY excited Micah in his new dress up outfit (and this year's Halloween costume, should we need one). For those of you unfamiliar with the movie A Toy Story, Micah is dressed as Buzz Lightyear, one of the main characters. Micah really really likes Buzz. He was thrilled about this purchase. I was too, as it was quite economical. I thought it would last til next year sometime because it is a size three, but it is obviously a very small size three since it fits him perfectly.

I'll take this opportunity to ramble a little about Micah. He is tall and sturdy and well coordinated. He has stopped eating writing instruments (yayyy!). He still does all his BMs in the toilet but is disinclined to pee in the toilet most of the time. He cut three eye teeth while we were in Winnipeg, and the fourth is on its way. Pretty much the only vegetable he eats is cucumbers. He loves most fruit. He's definitely into proteins and has been known to eat more chicken and also steak than me in a single sitting. His favorite food is oatmeal. He enjoys juice only once in a while and drinks quite a lot of water. He has recently begun to string words together, and made a funny joke about poop this week. He is quite loving and snuggly. He likes rough play. He loves to hit balls with a bat. He is starting to have an opinion about what he wears. He sings a lot and has a good repertoire, including most of the alphabet song. He is starting to count. He can count up to three objects, I think. We have heard him say, "... seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven." He denies it if asked if he's been counting, and refuses to count on demand. He sleeps about 2 hours in the afternoon. His bedtime is approximately 8pm and he sleeps hard until after midnight. He is generally up between 4:30 and 6am. Sometimes he snoozes a bit after he's first up, but as a rule he just kind of bugs us by singing and rustling around and asking for milk and asking to use the potty until we finally get up and start the day. Earlier this week he slept straight through until 6:30, and this morning he fell back to sleep and didn't get up until 8! So things are finally looking up in the sleeping department. Not counting my chickens yet though!

I am finding that having a little boy is much different from a girl. He is so busy and that can be very tiring!! However it seems like it is getting easier faster than it did with Eva. I think that we haven't had to reteach Micah a lot of the 'house rules' that we worked hard on with Eva. He just kind of knows by watching his sister. And because he learns so much from her, his development is somewhat accelerated. Andrew said once that sometimes he forgets that Micah isn't three- meaning that Micah so often does the same stuff that Eva does, Andrew is sometimes surprised when Micah doesn't have the same emotional maturity as Eva.

I love our little guy more every day. He melts my heart so often. I am so proud already of the person he is and is becoming. He's a wonderful boy.
